21 Nov 2017 Health Promotion Week at IMU Promotes Healthy Lifestyle      

3-6 October 2017 – International Medical University’s Semester 5 students from the Nutrition and Dietetics with Nutrition programmes organised a Health Promotion Week at the University’s campus in Bukit Jalil.  The theme for this year’s Health Promotion Week is “Healthy Lifestyle at Workplace: Eat Healthy, Stay Active. This event is organised as part of the project requirement under the Nutrition in Health Promotion Module that contributes to 50% of the course assessment.

The objective of the Week is to create awareness on healthy eating and active living amongst the IMU staff in line with the IMU Wellness Programme that was launched by YB Dato’ Seri Dr Hilmi Bin Yahya, the Honourable Deputy Minister of Health Malaysia on 11 May 2017, in conjunction with the presentation of the “Kafeteria Sihat” (Healthy Cafeteria) and “MyBeSS” awards for the Pandan Serai Café.

The 4-day event has been designed by four groups of students to encompass 4 carefully selected topics to reflect the very much needed information to be disseminated and understood by the community to ensure a better understanding of calories, serving sizes, food labels and physical activity. This is also to meet the module outcome of students acquiring skills in developing nutrition and health communication materials in addition to acquiring knowledge in the various dimensions of health and wellness. During this event, the students were assessed in their presentation skills whilst demonstrating the educational exhibits and performing identified physical activities.
