The event also had a trauma moulage (TM) competition, which assessed the art and skill in resuscitation of a mock polytrauma injury. The IMU TM team, consisting of Semester 9 students, was the only team with all medical students as its team members. The other nine teams in this competition had medical personnel with many years of clinical experiences – each team led by a senior medical officer. Nevertheless, the IMU team was the 2nd highest in theory examnination and 5th in the Trauma Moulage competition (Practical). Their performance was excellent and inspiring.

Dr Mahathar bin Abdul Wahab, Head of Service, Emergency Medicine, Malaysia, gave a lecture titled “Targeted Goals in Trauma Resuscitation” and enlightened participants on the importance to “Response Fast, Act Correctly and Save Lives” – as per conference theme.

In summary, this was a fruitful meeting for all participants in providing awareness and exposure to healthcare providers and medical students in managing trauma case at its maximum potential, and applying the currents updates in management. This may significantly minimise patient mortality and morbidity.
