14 Apr 2020 IRDI Received Viral RNA Extraction Kits from Lions Club KL City to Fight COVID-19
11 April 2020 –IMU’s Institute for Research, Development and Innovation (IRDI) received 10 RNA extraction kits for COVID 19 testing at its Advanced Microbiology Collaborative Research Laboratory (IMU-AMCRL). These kits were generously donated by Lions Club KL City is to help address the shortage of reagents to carry out diagnostic tests for COVID-19.
In a letter to Prof Abdul Aziz Baba, Vice-Chancellor & CEO, IMU Education, Richard Heng Hong Lee, President of Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur City mentioned, “It is my pleasure to inform you that Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur City have raised funds to purchase the RNA Extraction Kit to assist our Malaysian Government in ﬁghting COVID-19. Having to know International Medical University (IMU) is also helping our National Public Health Laboratory in diagnosing COVID-19 samples, we are happy to ship 10 sets of RNA Extraction Kits (3000 units) to IMU. We hope this donation can quickly resolve some of the reagents shortage issue and help to enable isolation of infected patients.”
