21 Apr 2014 IMU Pharmacy Students Raise Funds for Home

5 April 2014 – 23 students and 5 lecturers from International Medical University (IMU) visited Pusat Penjagaan Kanak-Kanak Cacat Taman Megah (PPKKCTM) in Kelana Jaya as part of their Community Service Project under IMU Cares Programme. Students who were involved in these activities are from Pharmacy (BP1/11) and Chiropractic programmes.

Activities during the visit included cleaning the clinical room, rearranging the medication cabinet, having chiropractic assessments, conducting a colouring competition, giving away magic long balloons and toys for kids, giving groceries needed as per their wish list and serving lunch for all the members in the home.

Before this visit to the home, the pharmacy students conducted a Charity Bazaar on 3 March 2014 to raise funds for the home. Food and henna booths were set up by this team. The students sold many food items such as fruit pudding, murukku, cookies, cake pops, cupcakes and float drinks. There were also many students who visited their booth to enjoy varieties of henna designs on their hand and leg. This group of students successfully raised RM995.70 on that day and utilised the whole amount to purchase the groceries stated in the wish list, stationeries and toys for all children.

PPKKCTM supports and provides all facilities for abandoned, disabled and underprivileged children with activities that enhance tolerance, understanding, health and well-being in the Community in which we live.
