28 Sep 2020 13th IMU Family Medicine Clinical Skills Course Attracted More than 100 Participants

6 September 2020 –  Together with the IMU Centre for Lifelong Learning, IMU School of Medicine led by the Department of Family Medicine, organised a one-day Course entitled “13th IMU Family Medicine Clinical Skills Course”. This Course which had been held for 13 years consecutively since 2007, emphasises on the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE). It is one of IMU’s most successful educational events and a very much sought-after CME. This year, it was held for the first time as a hybrid event.

With the objective of raising the standard of general practice in Malaysia, the workshop which covered areas of clinical importance to general practitioners was designed and officially offered as a Mock Exam for postgraduate trainees in family medicine sitting for the Conjoint MAFP/FRACGP Examination by the Academy of Family Physicians of Malaysia. However, it was also opened to all other interested general practitioners and medical students to gain an exemplary educational experience. It attracted a total of 112 participants from both the Ministry of Health and private practice, and being held as a hybrid event this year, the team of facilitators have taken this Course to even greater heights.

With the extremely positive feedback that was obtained from participants, we are inspired to now look at even more innovative ways in the delivery of this CME in the near future.

Participants’ Comments
• Well organised. Clear audio and visual

• I think the contents are relevant and being explained comprehensively by the facilitators. Thank you to all the facilitators and simulated patients.
• In preparation for Part 2, online workshops are understandably the new norm, and IMU has made an effort to make things practical e.g. in terms of asking questions, discussions in chat box.
• Very useful and safe money to travel
