26 Dec 2019 IMU Wins Two Malaysia’s Healthiest Workplace Awards for the Second Time
15 November 2019 – The International Medical University (IMU) once again won two (2) awards under the “2019 Malaysia’s Healthiest Workplace” by AIA Vitality. The awards received were the “Healthiest Workplace” and “Healthiest Employer” for medium sized organisation category. The award was presented during the Malaysia’s Healthiest Workplace Summit 2019 in which IMU’s Chief HR Officer, Francis Wen, was invited as one of the distinguished panel of speakers for the panel discussion on ‘Enabling Health at Work’.
Commenting on receiving these awards, Prof Abdul Aziz Baba, Vice Chancellor & CEO, IMU Education said “The continued success of this achievement is through the collective efforts of each individual and the teamwork of the IMU staff as well as the support by the IMU Wellness team who have tirelessly worked to put various key initiatives in place for the benefit of staff and students. These initiatives covered extensively from healthy eating to healthy living – workshops, talks and interactive challenges. Their contributions and hard work have paid-off and I encourage them to continue to set good examples among their friends and colleagues. We look forward to more participation of staff and students to get fit and stay healthy. After all, the real reward is your own health!”
Chairman of IMU Group, YBhg Tan Sri Dato’ Dr Abu Bakar Suleiman, also congratulated the team on the awards and hopes that the organisation will continue in this successful endeavour and be examples of good health. He also urged staff and students to be an inspiration to others within and outside of IMU, to realise their full potential in health.
About the Award
Based on a research study modelled after Britain’s Healthiest Workplace, this Award was brought to Asia Pacific for the first time in 2017 by AIA Vitality. The aim of the study is to support organisations to improve understanding of their employees’ personal well-being.
The Award is divided into four categories which are:
|Healthiest Employees||This award is conferred to the winning company of which their workforce is considered healthiest, measured by the average difference between AIA Vitality Age and actual age.|
|Healthiest Employer||This category is based on the inputs shared by both the employer and employees of each participating organisation.|
|Healthiest Workplace||This award is conferred to the winning company which has the highest average score from the Healthiest Employer and Healthiest Employees categories, each being given equal weightage.|
|Most Improved Workplace||This award is conferred to the winning company which has the highest average score of the most improvements made in their performance.|
In its third edition, the research survey saw the participation of 230 organisations ranging from small, medium to large multinational corporations with a combined workforce of 17,595 employees.
