6 Jan 2020 IMU’s Participation in Kolokium Pendidikan Revolusi Industri 4.0

5 November 2019 – IMU were among the 30 education institutions and related industries across Malaysia who was invited by the Ministry of Education to participate as an exhibitor at the Kolokium Pendidikan Revolusi Industri 4.0. Other institutions were Universiti Putra Malaysia, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Universiti Malaya, Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi Petronas, Asia Pacific University, Multimedia University, Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin, Politeknik (Mersing, Port Dickson, Banting), Kolej Vokasional (Keningau, Sabah, Teluk Intan), SK Saujana Utama and SMK Seri Bintang Utara. Unimaker and MakerSpace were among the few industries related exhibitors.

Out of the 30 exhibitors selected, IMU was the only medical and healthcare institution from the private institution sector who was participating in the event.

The University’s eLearning team submitted 2 projects and both projects were selected to be showcased at the event under the Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality category. The 2 projects identified were the Virtual Medical Clinic (School of Medicine) and the IMU ARX (Augmented Reality Experience) for Dental Education. Both projects were represented by Dr Sunil Pazhayanur Venkateswaran (School of Medicine) and Dr Omer Sheriff Sultan (School of Dentistry) together with representatives from eLearning Mohd Fadzil bin Zainal Anuar and Raden Yusnaidi Adiputra bin Alias.

About the event
The Ministry of Education organised the Kolokium Pendidikan Revolusi Industri 4.0. on 5 November 2019. The event was officiated by the then Minister of Education, YB Dr Maszlee Malik at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) Putrajaya. Also present were YBhg Dato’ Dr Mohd Gazali bin Abas, Ketua Setiausaha KPM, YBhg Datuk Ir Dr Siti Hamisah Tapsir, Ketua Pengarah Pendidikan Tinggi dan YBrs Ts Dr Mohammad Naim bin Yaakub, Ketua Pengarah Jabatan Pendidikan Politeknik dan Kolej Komuniti. The event saw 400 participants from government agencies, industries, public and private institutions of higher education, polytechnics, community colleges and schools.

This event aims to highlight technology based on the industrial revolution 4.0 that has been adopted in the national education system as an indication of Malaysia’s willingness to meet the industry 4.0 challenges. The projects which were showcased were categorised according to AI, IoT, VR, AR, Robotics, Data Science and Big Data.
