13 Jul 2021 An IRDI Professor Secured Prestigious International Research Grant from WHO-TDR

A Professor of Clinical Epidemiology from the Institute for Research, Development, and Innovation (IRDI), Prof Cho Min Naing and her research team has been awarded a prestigious international research fund from WHO-TDR amounting to RM 121,149.00 to undertake a research titled “A Systematic Review of Good Practices Used to Engage Communities in Health Services Research in Neglected Tropical Diseases in Low and Middle Income Countries of South-East Asia and the Pacific”.

The aims of the project are to characterise the types of community engagement in health services research using typology descriptors as well as to describe the mechanisms used by the researchers to engage with communities to respond to their community health service needs.

Taking a duration of one year, the study consists of two interconnected methods, namely synthesis of research evidences and development of mini training modules.

First part of the study
This part of the study will be involved in the conducting of a systematic review, which is the systematic search for the relevant research data and evidences followed by appraisal and synthesis of the data to answer specific research questions.
Second part of the study
The second part of the study will be the development of micro-learning modules or a social innovation toolkit for implementation, drawing on the case studies and evidences from the systematic review.
