7 October 2014 – International Medical University (IMU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with University of Tasmania (UTAS), Australia. The Memorandum was jointly signed in the university’s campus at Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur by IMU’s Vice President, Prof Peter Pook and University of Tasmania’s Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International), Prof Mike Calford. IMU’s Vice-President, Prof Victor Lim, Deans and many important invited guests were also present at the ceremony. 
The MOU was signed with the objective of fostering international cooperation in education and research. This collaboration will include professional development, joint research activities, joint scholarly and teaching activities and exchange of staff and students. UTAS has been one of IMU’s Partner University for more than ten years. The first MOU was signed in 2001 and this MOU signing in October of 2014 will provide a framework for further fostering and deepening collaborations between the two universities. UTAS has a growing reputation as one of Australia’s foremost teaching and research institutions. With a history spanning almost 125 years, the university is ranked in the top ten research universities in Australia and in the top two per cent of universities in the world.
